Privacy Policy

This site (language-lab.io) is operated by Settlebuddy Technologies, a Micro enterprise registered in India under the MSME framework (Udyam Reg. No. UDYAM-CH-01-0066638), at House No. 3871, Mauli Jagran Complex, Chandigarh 160102, India. We are pre-launch. The only personal data we collect is what you give us when you join the beta waitlist: your email address (required), and optionally your first name and the language you want to learn. We also store that you consented, the date, and the country your request came from (derived from your connection). We do not store your IP address and we set no tracking cookies. Our host may keep standard technical server logs (IP, browser, timestamp) briefly for security and delivery.

• Beta & launch emails — to tell you when the beta opens and send closely related updates. Basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR; equivalent consent under UK GDPR, DPDP Act, LGPD).
• Security / server logs — to keep the site available and safe. Basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or automated decisions, and we never sell it.

We do not sell or rent your data. It is processed only by service providers acting on our instructions:
• Cloudflare, Inc. — website hosting and the database that stores sign-ups. Sign-up data is stored in the European Union, under Cloudflare’s Data Processing Addendum and EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
• If you choose to join our WhatsApp community, that happens on WhatsApp/Meta’s platform under their privacy policy; other members may see your display name and number. Joining is entirely optional.

Your sign-up data is stored in the EU. Where a provider processes data outside your region, that transfer is covered by EU/UK Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

We keep your sign-up data until you ask us to delete it, you unsubscribe, or the beta programme ends — whichever is first. Security logs are kept only briefly.

Wherever you live you can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your data, to restrict or object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time (every email includes an unsubscribe link). Email [email protected] and we’ll respond.

• EU / EEA (GDPR): you may complain to your national Data Protection Authority. As our operator is based outside the EU, EU users can contact us directly at the email above; an EU representative under Art. 27 GDPR will be appointed before the product’s full launch.
• United Kingdom (UK GDPR): you may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
• California (CCPA/CPRA): rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out — we do not sell or “share” your personal information, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising any right.
• India (DPDP Act 2023): rights to access, correction, erasure and grievance redressal; contact our grievance contact above.
• Brazil (LGPD) and other regions: equivalent rights under your local law are honoured on request.

Language Lab is not directed to children. You must be at least 16 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, and at least 13) to sign up. We do not knowingly collect data from children below that age; if you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.

This site uses no advertising or analytics cookies and no third-party trackers; fonts are self-hosted so nothing is loaded from Google. See our Cookie Policy for details.

We’ll update this policy as the product grows (e.g. when accounts and the app launch) and revise the date above. Material changes affecting how we use your data will be notified to subscribers by email.
